SYDNEY, NSW, Australia - Stocks in Asia ended the week on a positive note, with all the major indices rising sharply.
The Nikkei in 225 in Japan led the charge, jumping 636.46 points or 2.32 percent to 28,084.47.
China's Shanghai Composite accelerated 60.84 points or 1.77 percent to 3,490.38.
The Australian All Ordinaries tacked on 30.40 points or 0.42 percent to 7,239.40.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng strengthen by 308.90 points or 1.11 percent to 28,027.57.
The U.S. dollar drifted lower as stocks rose. The euro fell a few points to 1.2109 by the close in Sydney. The British pound inched up to 1.4068. The Japanese yen rose a fraction to 109.39. The Swiss franc strengthened to 0.9033.
The Canadian dollar weakened to 1.2149. The Australian and New Zealand dollars were a tad higher at 0.7735 and 0.7185 respectively.
Overnight on Wall Street, the Dow Jones industrials rose 433.79 points or 1.29 percent to 34,021.45.
The Standard and Poor's 500 added 49.46 points or 0.72 percent to 4,112.50.
The Nasdaq Composite climbed 93.31 points or 0.72 percent to 13,124.99.
