McCain to be challenged by fellow Republican
Barbados News.Net Monday 12th May, 2008
A former Republican Representative has said he will run for US president as a Libertarian.
It is feared in Republican circles that Bob Barr could take votes from Republican candidate John McCain if he chooses to go ahead with his plan.
Mr Barr has claimed Senator McCain will not be able to rein in a government that has grown too powerful after the September 11th attacks.
As a Georgia congressman between 1995 and 2003, Barr was a resolute conservative and one of the leaders of the impeachment of Democratic President Bill Clinton.
He has cut ties with the Bush administration in recent years over its domestic surveillance program and what he called its abuse of due process rights.
Another libertarian-leaning Republican candidate, Ron Paul, is also still in the race, having not formally withdrawn.

I don’t like some of his positions but he wants to follow the Constitution to the letter.
That’s something we have not seen in awhile.
The three top front runners are all crazy.
